Bill Koons' after-dinner remarks : I am having trouble getting the text of Bill's talk transferred to the website, but I can e-mail it to you if you'd like.  Just send me a request, and I'll shoot it off to you.

I finally got it figured out !  Bill's remarks are now posted as the first items on the Pictures page.  Click on the first thumbnail and increase magnification to 400% to enjoy his after-dinner talk again !

Aug. 11.  Richard Raines Video Productions from Portland had a videographer at both our Friday reception and our Saturday dinner.  He interviewed most classmates that he could catch up with, and Richard will be editing the results into a 90 minute DVD which we can order for $29.95.  A letter was sent out today by the Reunion Committee to everyone on our Class Roster (we did it ourselves; we did not give the list to Richard) with ordering information.  There is no pressure on anyone to purchase the DVD; it is your own decision.

A number of classmates have sent congratulations to the committee for having planned the 50th reunion.  Some of their comments are listed here:  "Had a wonderful time."  "I didn't want it to end so soon."  "As a non-SEHS spouse, I had a lot of fun ... and even met up with a classmate that I knew in first and second grade in Corvallis (Dixie Branaman)."  "It was strange but very pleasant seeing everyone."  "I'm still replaying conversations with and glimpses of people from the evening, sorting it all out.  So many thoughts and emotions tied to that gathering."  "... a fine, fun filled 50th reunion - it was well worth driving down to Eugene to be there." "A half century is a long time and it was really great to see so many healthy, happy classmates!"  "[Bill Koons'] address was, without a doubt, the best reunion talk I have ever heard!"  "A wonderful event!"  Speaking for the committee, may I say that yes, it was a lot of work, but we all enjoyed getting together with our classmates.  Shall we do it again in five years, albeit on a smaller scale?

Income from raffle ticket sales and donations for the past reunion annuals and Sharon Moore's selected writings book from Dr. Kehl's Creative Writing class totalled $378 and has been donated to the EHS/SEHS Alumni Scholarship Fund. Details about the Alumni Scholarship Fund may be found on our Home page.  Several classmates have donated to the fund in memory of or in honor of parents, siblings, favorite teachers, and special friends.

There are 25 copies of the reunion annual available for purchase, if you didn't get yours on the first round.  Cost is $20 - order via e-mail to Martha.

We also have about 6 copies of Sharon Moore's compilation of creative writing from Dr. Kehl's class.  She donated a large carton of them to the class for our enjoyment.  If you would like to have one, I would recommend a donation to our class treasury.  Request one via e-mail to Martha.

An elite group of 14 classmates joined us for the first time at a reunion !  Cecelia Bradbury, Chuck Carlson, Judy Clark, Dave Culbertson, Karin Dorsey, Bry Engle, Jerry Gartzke, Lanny Martin, Rob Mills, Reva Morefield, Mary Lois Reed, Mike Smith, Fred VonAppen, and Barb Wood received small trophies commemorating their attendance. I couldn't get Reva's name in the caption of the pictures - ran out of room.  Luetta Gall stood in for Reva in the pictures.

Twelve classmates joined Pat Clarke on a wine tasting tour on Saturday afternoon, enjoying the vistas of western Lane County while sipping several of the best wines of the region.

The Rain Cup golf tournament, sponsored by the SEHS Class of '61, was played on Friday - with a foursome including three members of the Class of '60 (Bill Guske, Sandy Nosler and Barry Rubenstein) winning first place !  Way to go, guys !

Bill Guske won again on Saturday evening, as he had the winning raffle ticket for the SEHS sweatshirt drawing;  Bill Ruff was the winner of the SEHS jacket.

Response for the reunion stood at almost 51%, based on 412 classmates for whom we had contact information. We had 158 classmates registered for at least one event of the reunion and 52 who ordered reunion annuals but were unable to attend the reunion itself, for a total of 210 classmates who responded.  We have 78 classmates on our In Memory page, and 49 for whom we have no contact information whatsoever.  Attendance at the Friday reception was approximately 150 classmates; the Saturday brunch was attended by approximately 85 classmates;  about 216 folks were at the Saturday dinner (including spouses and significant others); and about 80 folks [and one deer, who crashed the party] were at Ray and Sharon's in Marcola for the Sunday picnic.

Reunion annuals were mailed out on August 17. They were sent Media Mail, so they may take a little while, but never fear - they are on the way !!!

Also, have a look at the "Pictures" page! The pictures that Pat Clarke took over the reunion weekend have been posted on the Pictures page; if anyone has other reunion pictures they would like to have posted, please e-mail me and I'll arrange to get them added to our collection.  Use the link at the bottom of this page.
